What type of barber are you ? How did you become a barber? Tell us about your journey.
“I’m a very humble and hardworking barber I like to say because I work everyday, no days off. Morning to night and to me that’s how you continue to improve yourself. I became a barber to show a girl can work in a males industry, a man’s world. Being a female barber you’re going to hear so many good things and so many bad, and sometimes even have very uncomfortable experiences with men because you are a female. But you have to learn how to play the cards right.”
Tell us about your best experience so far as a barber and some key highlights moments in your career !
“Working at many different barber shops to see where you’re the best at. Where you’re more comfortable working at, and especially the people you work with. My best experience would be wining my first competition and wining first place.”
What are the biggest challenges of being a barber?
“You have to deal with no shows, cancellations ,slow days, picky people, making sure you give the client what they want, even if you don’t like the haircut as long as they client is happy.”
Who or what inspired you to be a barber ?
“Being told that you’re gonna be a stay at home mom, making dinner for your husband, cleaning the house, while your husband is making the money. Life should not be like that. People are capable of taking care of themselves, being a barber, being your own boss, while still having a boss, making your own schedule is the best thing ever”
Do you work at a barbershop or do you have your own spot ?
“I work at trnd setters barbershop”
How do you overcome a lack of motivation in life?
“You just have to keep going because no matter what you’re going to go through stuff, everyone’s going to go through stuff that nobody talks about. Everyone has a sad story to tell but how came up from it, is why people are gonna listen to your stories.”
Where do you see yourself in 5 years ?
“Still being a barber, hopefully with my own all female barbershop/ smoke shop.”
Do you have any last words for your followers or any message that you want to put out there ?
“Don’t be stuck in your past, when you’re living in the future right now, because so many step backs will happen, but you’re not gonna want to stop you’re gonna want to keep going, and not for your parents, not your family, no your spouses but for you. You only got you in the end.”
